From a satisfied original owner..
If you want to hear the very best in sound reproduction, visit a state-of-the-art recording studio. I practically lived in them during the 1980's when I was a professional musician, and because of this, my listening experiences outside of the studios almost always left me unsatisfied. I was absolutely cured of this after purchasing my Denon DRA-1025R along with a pair of JBL monitors. I own a Luxman R-117, Kenwood KR-9600, Marantz 2330B, Yamaha separates, and several other excellent audio devices, but the Denon remains my favorite to this day. My only regret about the DRA-1025R is they don't make them anymore. I'd happily buy it again. Highly recommended.

Excellent sounding monster receiver! Preamp (9) and tuner (10) part is superb Poweramp part is good (7) But to be clear, the big separated power amps of Denon are better, period.
Overall score is 8, but if you consider how cheap you may buy these things recently, it has a price per sound ratio of 9.

I've been auditioning amps this past year chasing that musical, detailed, layered sound for my dedicated 2 channel rig. I've had Anthem, Hafler, Adcom, Parasound, Yamaha, Sansui etc. I would say I've been through 10 different amps. I've been running a Denon PMA-920 as my reference and no integrated or 2 channel amp has sufficed until this past week. I found a DRA-1025. I've had a 1035 so I wasn't expecting much difference. I believe the 1035 I had must have been a dud. The difference is night and day. I've been using Tool 10,000 Days, mastered by Bob Ludwig, as my reference disk. I haven't heard this sound better on any of the amps I've auditioned in this past year. The Musical Concepts Hafler 220 and the Sansui AU-517 were good but to me this 1025 sounds even better. It reveals the layers of this recording so well I never thought I'd repeat this old cliché, I'm hearing things in this recording I've never heard but I'm hearing things I've never heard. Incredible receiver. I'd put this all in one receiver against any $2000 and under separates rig.
